Origins

Established on October 4, 1976, the Durham Historical Society is a non-profit organization dedicated to collecting, preserving and advocating for Durham’s town history. Before the Union Church, meetings were held, in rotation, at various members' homes. In 1988, it was voted at a town meeting to turn responsibility for the operation and use of the Old Town hall over to the Durham Historical Society.

About Durham

Now and then…

Durham’s a little town, nestled along the Androscoggin River. For a place that was once a bustling hub of Maine, it has gone decidedly sleepy.
